Our Story

Silverhill Mill began in the most unexpected way. Six days before Hurricane Sally made landfall in September 2020, Bryan and his wife Ree received their first sawmill. They had no idea that the storm would bring such devastating winds to Baldwin County, toppling hundreds of trees and changing the landscape overnight.

As the community began the long process of cleanup and recovery, Bryan and Ree saw an opportunity to help in a meaningful way. Working alongside neighbors and friends, they removed fallen trees from properties across the county—trees that had stood for decades, offering shade and beauty to the land.

But rather than let those trees become waste, they gave them new life.

Each log that came through their mill carried a story—a oak that had shaded a family’s backyard for generations, a walnut that marked a property line, a maple that had welcomed spring year after year. Bryan and Ree transformed these fallen giants into functional works of art: charcuterie boards, cutting boards, serving pieces, and custom furniture that would be used and cherished for generations to come.

What started as hurricane recovery work became a calling. Today, Silverhill Mill continues to source timber locally from Alabama and neighboring states, honoring each tree by crafting it into heirloom-quality pieces. Bryan personally mills and handcrafts every board, while Ree helps run the business and connect with customers who value quality, craftsmanship, and the stories behind their pieces.

At Silverhill Mill, we believe every tree deserves a second chapter—and every home deserves pieces with character and soul.

Today, Bryan selects each log, mills it on-site, and handcrafts it into pieces built to last. Every board is finished with food-safe oils and designed for both daily use and special occasions. Whether you choose from our ready-made collection or commission a custom piece, you’re bringing home Alabama timber with a story. =
